the new Australian Longboard Surfing Open
Over the last 6 years Island Style Promotions has run the Malfunction Surfing Contest under license to the Gold Coast Malibu Club. In that time the event has under gone many changes, the most noticeable being a relocation from the southern Gold Coast to Kingscliff on the Tweed Coast to ensure competitor safety and welfare. It has also grown from a 3 day amateur event to a 5 day international surf festival with pro/am surf divisions, SUP surfing, music, movies, lifestyle stalls and more. As such it now gains attention from many of the worlds leading competitors as well as those that identify with surf culture for fun.
As of September 16 Island Style Promotions will no longer run the Malfunction on behalf of the Gold Coast Malibu Club. Instead Island Style Promotions will continue to run a 5 day international surf at Kingscliff named the Australian Longboard Surfing Open and will have a new website www.australianlongboardopen.com.au online in a matter of weeks. Scheduled to run in the last weekend of March the 2012 event will be staged from 21st - 25th March to ensure no disruptions to those travelling to the surf events scheduled along Australia's east coast.
We believe the Australian Longboard Surfing Open will enable us to showcase our country's best surfers at an international standard whilst providing a quality festival based around our surfing lifestyle for the whole community to enjoy.
