Perfect 10 upsets Harley Ingleby's title Hopes

Bonga takes his second world title with style.

World Longboard Tour ratings leader  Harley Ingleby was left wondering what might have been when Hawaii's Ned Snow opened their round 4 clash with a perfect 10 and followed it up with a second ride 5 minutes later scoring Snow 18.75 out of a possible 20.

This left former world champion Bonga Perkins (Haw) and runner up at the opening leg of the Oxbow World Tour in France, Antoine Delpero (Fr) both needing to win the final to claim the coveted 2008 World Title.

Bonga was the first finalist after defeating Jared Neal (Aus) in round 4,  absolutely smoking Timothee Creignount (Fr) in the qtr finals and exacting some revenge for Ingleby by defeating Snow in the semi finals.

On the other side of the draw Antoine Delpero disposed of Bryce Young (Aus) in round 4, Josh Baxter in the qtr finals and Brazilian Alex Salazar in the semis.

In the 25 minute final Bonga opened his account with an excellent 8.75 ride while Delpero struggled to find a decent wave and had to settle for a less satisfactory opening ride scoring only 5's from the judges. Bonga then took a strangle hold on his second world title with a second scoring ride of 8 leaving the Frenchman requiring a combination score to take the title. Delpero's 2nd scoring ride of 7.25 still leaving him floundering. Bonga then extended his lead scoring 8.20 for his final ride while his opponent still struggled to find the waves he needed scoring a 6.65.

The victory secures Bonga his second world title after taking his first title 10 years ago.
