                                                                         Day 7

10.18am...A decrease in the swell has forced a move to Puhnio Road.  The waves are a nice 2-3ft when they come but it is inconsistent.  The wind is light from the west and forecast to stay around 10-15 knots.

First in the water this morning was the Over 50s again.  They were followed by the over 35s.  The over 28s are out now and will be followed by the under 16 girls, under 18 girls and under 16 boys semifinals.  no call has been made past these rounds but approx 6-8 finals will be run today.

The first Hyundai National Champion was found yesterday when Ian Walker (Auck) defended his Opunake Inn Kneeboard title.

3.16... What a mission.  The surf went flat at Puhnio Road o ver the full tide.  We checked out a few other breaks, packed up the circus and moved back to Stent.  We will be going until late tonight and will surf 6 finals.  These will be the Breakers Under 14, Sirocco Surfboards Under 16 Girls, Quiksilver Under 16 King of the Groms, Breakers Under 18 Girls, Hyundai Women's Longboard and Hyundai Junior Longboard.

Ryan Hawker and Jay Paddock just made the first Under 16 Boys heat eliminating Braedon Williams and Tyler Anderson.
