SAMOA  REPORTS

Report No:      02-07

Period:              Monday 8th to Sunday 14th January 2007

Weather for this week has been mostly sunny with the odd tropical shower.

MONDAY   HIGH TIDE – 10.22am, LOW TIDE – 4.20pm  A NE swell up to head and a half high, great  direction for Tiavea so the crew hit it. The Rivermouth was consistent with the rights dominating but with the odd close out. A little tricky at the take off with some double ups due to the swell direction and a little windy at times but great fun.  Surfed from 8.00 to 11.30.

TUESDAY   HIGH TIDE – 11.16am, LOW TIDE – 5.15pm. The dropping swell had turned SE overnight, so the crew hit Wakas at first for 1 hr sess, but it was not getting much swell and was a bit messy. They headed round to Pebbles to find some fun small waves but a little inconsistent as the direction was not the best. Surfed here from 10.30 to 12.30.

WEDNESDAY   HIGH TIDE – 12.15pm, LOW TIDE – 6.15pm.  A nice swell shoulder to waist high but not a lot on offer so the crew went down to The Island for a look. It was small as expected and slightly wind affected but they still enjoyed it, such an amazing spot. Surfed from 10.30 to 1.30.

THURSDAY   HIGH TIDE – 1.11pm, LOW TIDE – 6.36am.   Same size ESE swell with a few bigger sets to get the heart going. The crew opted to surf out the front at Resorts. There were some OK peaks but you had to be choosy like at most locations anywhere. Surfed from 11.30 to 1.30.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY  The swell had done the Houdini again and virtually disappeared so no surfing on both days, serious R&R, island tours and Vailima challenges.

SUNDAY   HIGH TIDE – 3.32pm, LOW TIDE – 9.15am.  There had been a definite jump in the swell overnight up to about shoulder high with the odd bigger one. Still not enough to get the reefs firing so the crew surfed out the front at Resorts from 1.00 to 3.30. Nothing Samoan special but the odd one was walling up and going inside out.
