Duane DeSoto wins Quiksilver Boardriders Bowls event

DeSoto's Third Win A Charm At Steinlager Shaka Series Quiksilver Boardriders Bowls
The weekend is over and Duane DeSoto is already in Tahiti getting ready to surf some sizable surf in the southern hemi. Just hours before boarding the plane, DeSoto had enough time to clean house at the Quiksilver Boardriders Bowls contest for his third win in a row. Taking an early lead in the finals, DeSoto caught a solid 8.67 point ride and backed it up with another solid 7.5 for the win. In winning he collected $1200.00 and with one more event left in the series, he is closing in on overall points leader Isaac Kaneshiro for the overall title in Hawaii's only professional longboard circuit. A surprise second in the event, Genki Kino ($600.00), who placed first in Japan's pro circuit, took the runner-up spot with Kekoa Uemura ($300.00) in third and Ezra Rodrigues ($200.00) in fourth. In the C4 Waterman division featuring the top stand up paddle surfers in Hawaii, Todd Bradley used his goofy-footer (left stance) advantage and rode the two best waves of the final for the victory. Following in Bradley's tracks, was Oahu north shore resident Igor Lumuertz in second and Leleo Kinimaka and Ttus Kinimaka, third and fourth respectively. The final event on the Steinalger Shaka Longboard Series in slated for September 7, 8 at either Queen's or Haleiwa.
