Ireland's big-wave spot Aileens breaks out of season The newest big wave discovery, Aileens, off the coast of Ireland broke on Sunday July 1st with sets in excess of 40foot faces. A solo tow team, consisting of Alastair Mennie and Andrew Cotton were ready and waiting at 4am to launch their ski. “It wasn’t the biggest we have surfed it but it was a nice surprise considering it is summer here” said Alastair. The boys towed each other into some sizable waves beneath the towering cliffs over the next 10 hours. The session made national and regional press and will be featured in the upcoming documentary based around the teams tow exploits and discoveries in Ireland.
