Roxy Surf Festival
2008

Victoria’s Phillip Island is one Australia’s most reliable and naturally
beautiful surf destinations. So it’s no wonder every summer the island plays
host to the largest celebration of women’s surfing with the Roxy Surf
Festival!
Stretching across the Australia Day weekend, from January 21st to 27th, the
annual week-long festival attracts the cream of the sport, with hundreds of
girls of all ages and skill levels competing in both professional and
amateur divisions.
2008 promises to be one of the most exciting in the Roxy Surf Festival’s
seven year history, with a boost in prize money and ratings points in both
the blue-ribbon World Qualifying Series (WQS) division and professional
Longboarding divisions.
World champions Sofia Mulanovich of Peru and Australian Chelsea Hedges have
already confirmed for the 6-star WQS and will be hoping they can steal the
Roxy Surf Festival crown from defending champion and teen super-star
Stephanie Gilmore.
Reigning Women’s World Longboard champion Jen Smith of California will also
make the trek Down-Under with acclaimed talent, Kassia Meador. Against the
likes of home-grown champions Chelsea Williams & Selby Riddle, the girls
will be vying for the richest longboarding prize-purse ever in Australian
waters!
Live web-casting and daily updates will take place throughout the duration
of the event, available right here on roxy.com, but Roxy encourages every
surfer girl (and boy) to get down to Phillip Island and get amongst it!
More info will be posted shortly on the Roxy Surf Festival, Roxy’s Art
Studio (which will be set up and open free to the public each day of
competition) and further developments!
Phillip Island has an abundance of camping grounds, hotels and
accommodation, so get involved, rub shoulders with the world’s best female
surfers and go surfing with Roxy!
