SE Qld Swell continues into New Years Day

Conditions were very similar on New Years Day to New Years Eve in SE Qld. The low pressure system that has been the driving force behind all the swell moved a little to the N and was located just to the NNE of Fraser Island. The swell was in 6-8 ft range and the conditions on most beaches were like the inside of a washing machine on high. The winds were still gale force from the SE and there were plenty of lashing squalls.

Once again all roads lead to Noosa, with waves in all the bays. Mooloolaba was the only other sheltered spot on the Sunny Coast and the shorey was doing its thing again today on this morning’s incoming tide.
On the Gold Coast, once again the bottom end of the Superbank from Coolangatta to Kirra was the pick. Those lucky enough to have a jet ski were towing in at Currumbin, Burleigh and the Superbank as the sweep was savage again today. - JC
