Surf World's 'Riding Liquid Mountains' launching March
The biggest waves in the world roll into Surf World Surf World is bracing itself for the biggest, meanest, scariest and deadliest waves on the planet to roll in. ”Riding Liquid Mountains” will be the most comprehensive big wave exhibition in the world which is to be launched in March 2008. The exhibition will explore big wave surfing pioneers through to the modern day. The visitor will be taken on an adrenalin pumping and depth defying look at the evolution to the future of big wave surfing. The exhibition will feature images of the biggest waves ever ridden, as well as display dozens of big wave surfboards, moving image, artwork and personal items from big wave surfers.
The exhibition will explore events and locations from around the world including: -The 1965 and 1981 Rip Curl Pro’s at Bells Beach, where huge waves pounded the Bells Beach shoreline. The iconic Bell will be on display as well as images and items from big wave charges Jeff Watt, Simon Anderson, Terry Fitzgerald and Greg Brown.
-The Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational at Waimea Bay will display every annual event poster as well as Trophies from Tony Ray and Ross Clarke-Jones.
-The Billabong XXL will display images of every winning biggest wave and biggest paddle in wave ridden since the inception.
-The exhibition will also include images and items from the Billabong Odyssey, Japan, Shark Park and other big wave locations around the world.
-Artwork from Norvell Watson, John Severson, Albie Falzon, Barrie Sutherland. Big wave posters, clothing, books, moving image, magazines, a jet ski, sled, tow rope and even a foil board belonging to Ross Clarke-Jones will also feature in the exhibition.
