Harper Entertainment set to publish Miki Dora biography

The Greatest Surf Story Never Told

On April 8, 2008 -- Harper Entertainment will publish 'All For a Few Perfect Waves': The Audacious Life and Legend of Rebel Surfer Miki Dora,' L.A. author David Rensin's five-years-in-the-making (300+ interviews on four continents) biography of the dashing and enigmatic surfer who ruled the waves at Malibu in the fifties and sixties.

The book, called "primo" by Vanity Fair, "engrossing" by Men's Vogue, "breathtaking in its scope," by Surfer, uncovers the truth about the sport's most outrageous practitioner, charismatic prince, chief anti-hero, committed loner, and enduring mystery whose God-given talent and riveting personality made him what his peers could never be: a legend in his own time.

Dora, who abandoned Malibu when the post-Gidget surfing explosion overcrowded the waves, never worked, living instead off his reputation, the kindness of strangers, and whatever else he could scam. He also dabbled in credit card fraud, led the FBI on a seven year chase around the world before being arrested and serving a year in jail. Then Dora abandoned America for far-flung homes and perfect waves and privacy the world over.

And he told everyone he knew not to talk about him. "Don't sell me out." Now, to preserve the story of this singular surfer, they're talking. David Rensin will read and sign "All For a Few Perfect Waves" at the following Southern California locations:
