Excellent sunny offshore surfing conditions with a 1 metre SE swell and South winds perfect for the new venue

As part of the 25th celebration of the 2008 Hyundai Malfunction Surfing Festival, Surfing icon and Legendary longboarder Robert “Nat” Young will launch his latest book, “The complete History of Surfing from water to snow.” Nat’s latest book launch will be held on Friday 25th at 5pm meeting at the Sand Bar at the Domain Casuarina Beach Resort with a special Luau Dinner to follow and a Von Weirdos Surf Memorabilia auction afterwards.

Nat Young won his first World title in 1966 at San Diego, California on a board he named Sam which was 9ft long and considered to be a short board in those times and would easily pass for the longboards of today. Nat followed the shortboard revolution of the seventies and then made a return to professional competition in the late 80’s to win 4 ASP World professional Longboard titles. A proliferate book publisher, Nat wrote his first History of Surfing in 1983, the latest edition takes in his interest in snow boarding and the development of the sport.

Robert “Nat” Young is one of surfing most enduring characters, in his day he was referred to as “the Animal” because of his extremely aggressive and powerful style. He survived a shocking attack of Surf Rage at his home break of Angourie in the late 90’s and wrote a book about localism and how to avoid getting angry. At the age of 60, Nat has mellowed considerably and says “To gain respect, you must give respect!” If you would like to book a ticket ($55.00 each) for Nat’s launch and Luau dinner, call 0266749999 or 0414569208.
