2nd Annual LBI Longboard Classic - August 7th

The Alliance for a Living Ocean is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual LBI Longboard Classic will take place on Long Beach Island on August 7th, 2010.

The LBI Longboard Classic will be held at the 110th Street surfing beach in Long Beach Township.

The event is named the "Classic" because only vintage longboards will be allowed, and the contestants will be scored by classic contest criteria such as noserides, hanging ten, cheater fives, dropknee turns, fin first takeoffs, spinners, length of ride and cross-stepping style. No leashes, and no board modifications.

Surf Instrumental band the Diamondheads will be performing live during the contest, performing a retro mix of Dick Dale and Ventures songs with their own 1960's era-inspired compositions.

ALO's Environmental Fair will be a festival of local environmental organizations and "green-minded" companies such as, the Surfrider Foundation, Clean Ocean Action, Save Barnegat Bay, and ReClam the Bay.

This event promises to be a bitchin' good time for friends and family, whether you surf of not. Come out for "fun, sun and stoke" and support a great cause!!!

Entry fee for the longboard contest is $35 for pre-registration and $40 at the day of the event, and all proceeds benefit the Alliance for a Living Ocean.
