18th
Chapter Lonboard Classic set for Woolacombe

Tip time at the
longboarder haven of Woolacambe
Woolacombe will come alive with Longboarders on 24th and 25th of November as
competitors from across the country descend for the 18th Chapter Longboard
Classic surf competition. Although the contest attracts some of the best
names in Europe it is still a light hearted affair with contestants
abilities ranging from beginner to world class.
Whether you want to enter the competition or just enjoy watching come and
get involved. This year the event will follow the tradition of being run
for charity in memory of a local surfer, Shane Hickman who passed away from
cancer. All money raised will go to testicular cancer research.
The event is sanctioned by the BPSA (British Professional Surfing
Association). Past winners have included Ben Skinner, Ashley Braunton and
Craig Cuff. There will be an open division only but with prizes for the
most impressive ladies, junior(under 18) and masters(over 35) surfers as
voted for by the judges.
On the Saturday
evening there will be a party at Westbeach with raffle to raise money for
the charity. The final prize giving will be either on the Saturday evening
or Sunday depending on when the contest finishes. If you wish to be part of
this prestigious event call 01271 870877 and speak to Ashley or e-mail
