Christian Surfers UK host the Jesus Longboard Classic
Christian Surfers UK partner with Tubestation and Nineplus to host Jesus Longboard Classic With the Jesus Surf Classic held at Croyde just less than a week away Christian Surfers UK are pleased to confirm that they will also be partnering with ‘The Tubestation’, Polzeath and ‘nineplus’ to host the Jesus Longboard Classic at Polzeath over the weekend 6-7 October 2007. The Long Board Division has been transferred from ‘The Jesus’ this year to make the event more manageable, and increase the capacity for the longboard categories. At the new event there will be four categories, the Open, Ladies, Junior and Masters (over 35) rather than just one. Polzeath Beach is ideal for longboarding, and the event HQ will be ‘The Tube Station’ - which is a pretty “radical converted church”, with half pipe skate ramp plasma screens and a coffee shop. Contest Director, Phil Williams, head of Christian Surfers UK says that “We are very excited to be running this Long Board Classic as a trial this year. As with ‘The Jesus’, there’ll be some great hospitality for the competitors, as well as prize money of £1,000, with first place in the Open event winning £250. Christian Surfers UK are very pleased to be supported by the ‘Tubestation’ – tubestation.org : and also a company synonymous with Long Boarding – ‘nineplus’ nineplus.com who are based just outside Newquay. Combining the resources of these three organisations should make for a top class competition.
We are also very
pleased that the event is being endorsed by the British Longboard Union (
BLU ), although not forming part of their contest series. Entry forms can be
downloaded from
www.christiansurfers.co.uk
- or watch out for posters and entry forms in surf shops near you. Should be
an exciting event at a beach relatively un-used for contests.
