SAMOA REPORTS
Period: Monday 3rd to Sunday 9th September 2007.
MONDAY HIGH TIDE – 12.25pm, LOW TIDE – 6.24pm. With a head high swell from ESE the conditions were looking good for Village Lefts with some nice waves lining up for a good session from 11.00 to 1.00.pm until the wind shifted and the quality dropped.
TUESDAY HIGH TIDE – 1.42pm, LOW TIDE – 7.30am. The swell had a lot of east in it and was double overhead, with a few bigger. They called a boat trip expecting to find somewhere with waves but it was too big for fav spots and too much east in the swell for the others. There were only small waves breaking along the cliff at Boulders which was they main hope. The highlight was negotiating the swell with the boat which made for a very interesting trip.
WEDNESDAY HIGH TIDE – 2.46pm, LOW TIDE – 8.39am. There was a serious settling down of the swell but the wind was fully onshore so there was no surfing today with the crew heading into town to check out Apia, shop at the market and nose around.
THURSDAY HIGH TIDE – 3.40pm, low tide – 9.33am. Still had ordinary conditions so they headed to the north side to Tiavea to check but it was quite small and windy so again – no surfing today.
FRIDAY HIGH TIDE – 4.00am & 4.25pm, LOW TIDE – 10.18am. Conditions were forecast to be similar but an early high tide meant an early wake up at 5.30. They scored some waves down at Village Lefts before the wind got too strong. It wasn’t all time great but there were some good surfable waves with shoulder high sets. The session was from 6.15 to 7.45. then back for a hot breakie.
SATURDAY HIGH TIDE – 4.41am & 5.04pm, LOW TIDE – 10.57am. They woke for an early out the front at Resorts with a smallish swell with sets up to shoulder high no wind. There were some fun waves, a few with long walls from 6.30 to 8.30. They surfed out there again in the arvo from 4.00 to 5.45pm in windy conditions, but still had some very OK fun waves.
SUNDAY HIGH TIDE – 5.20am & 5.41pm, LOW TIDE – 11.32am. Dawn saw a clean head high swell, and a few bigger, and light offshore winds so they headed straight to Wakas which was the best place for a long session as you can surf it closer to a lower tide than most other breaks. They surfed there from 6.30 to 9.30 scoring some nice clean waves. From 3.00 to 5.00. they had an arvo surf at Pebbles which had some nice waves pushing thru.
