Kekoa Uemura wins the Sahara Longboard Pro Kitaizumi

The weather at Kitaizumi today had slight rain but the swell had picked up to 3 feet. The improved conditions made for a beautiful final day. A big number of fans were at the beach today along with the huge number of internet access users watching todays action which started with the 5th heat of round of 32. This event also concludes the ASP Japan Longboard Series.

As today`s action went into the quarter finals the man on man action started. In semi final heat 1, Bonga Perkins (HAW) and Erik Sommer (USA) went into action. Perkins won with a 9.25 point ride the highest wave score of the day. Semi final heat 2 was an all Hawaiian match of Noah Shimabukuro and Kekoa Uemura. Uemura winning this match.

The final was also an all Hawaiian matchup between Bonga Perkins and Kekoa Uemura and both wasted no time with Uemura scoring a 5.5 and Perkins a 7.5 . Then Uemura scored an 8.75 and Perkins tried to answer back but it was Uemura who was the new champion and collected the winners prize of $2500. Congratulations Kekoa and Bonga !
