Jersey’s Grace Davies retained her British Longboard Union Championship
title after winning round five at Gwithian, Cornwall The “Oxbow” BLU
championships are contested over five events, starting back in April, with
the titles being decided by counting the best three results. Davies won the
title with maximum points following three superb wins – Gwithian, Jersey and
Watergate Bay.
In the Gwithian Final, Davies, was commended by British Coach, Joel Gray,
who had travelled down to watch her. He said: “Grace was on fire, she has
worked hard all summer on her skills and fitness, her walking of the board
combined with her stronger turns helped build the points to produce a
fantastic, well deserved, solid performance that had been building through
the day”.

That fitness really paid off as Grace also entered the Under 18 Open
Division which is of a very high standard - evident as the junior champion
also made the Open men’s final.
Grace made history as she became the first female to make an open final of a
BLU event, unfortunately she was unable to back up her first good scoring
wave and had to settle with forth place which was ok by Grace as she had
backed up the result that she achieved at the BSA championships where she
secured third place in the under 18 Juniors back in May.
