Rabbit Kekai's Keiki Surf Comp hits Waikiki this weekend

Rabbit Kekai Foundation Keiki Surf Contest Ready For A Big Weekend In Waikiki

This weekend, over 100 keiki from around the Hawaiian islands get together with Uncle Rabbit as the 6th Annual Rabbit Kekai Foundation Keiki Surf Contest drops in on another year's blessing by the legendary surfer.

Known affectionately as Uncle Rabbit, legendary surfer Rabbit Kekai, who mentored under the great Hawaiian waterman Duke Kahanamoku back in the early 1900's, takes over in Waikiki as the grand marshall of the contest. The event features eight divisions for both boys and girls including a super menehune division for the top amateurs under twelve years of age.

As Kekai had learned at an early age to face the ocean with respect and to give back all he learned in the spirit of Aloha, this weekend's competitors will be reminded to keep those same thoughts together and become ambassadors as they grow and mature as members of Hawaii's ocean community.

The event, supported by Quiksilver will feature tons of prizes including goods from Toes On The Nose, Olukai sandals, Surfline Hawaii, Pro Grafx of California as well as drinks from Meadow Gold and lunches from Rainbow Drive Inn. To more information, please contact Suzie Kekai at 808.699.7628 or email:wavedancinggirl@hotmail.com.
