FINAL TOUR RESULTS

Round 4 torquay

Constable is Comfortable in Victorian waters!

Noosa’s Josh Constable posted two excellent nine points rides in his final today at Torquay Point to take a well deserved win in event 4 on the Suzuki Australian Longboard Tour.

With only one final event remaining on the Suzuki 2005 series, Constables win has elevated  him up into first position on 4838 points, just narrowly  ahead of the previous tour leader  and today’s second placed surfer Harley Ingelby (Coff’s Harbour) who sits on 4800 points!

In the long peeling 3 to 4 feet (1.25m) waves, Constable opened early with a near perfect 9.7 ride but was quickly challenged by Ingelby who notched up another outstanding 9.44 ride.  Ingelby took the lead with another excellent 8 point  ride, but shortly after his task was made extremely hard when Constable posted another excellent 9 point  ride.

These two surfers look destined to fight out the series at the final event in early July at Byron Bay and whoever places highest at that event looks likely to win the exceptional first prize of a Suzuki Grand Vitara as the 2005 season ratings champion!

Gold Coast surfer Jackson Close today finished 3rd  , and is also placed 3rd on the season ratings. He is still a slight chance to take out the series and the Suzuki Car, but would certainly need to win the final event and would also need Constable and Ingelby to finish outside the top 4 at that event.

For Constable, it was his 2nd big victory in Victoria in the past 6 months having won the Australian Title at Bells Beach last October. Delighted with his win and lead on the ratings after today’s final he said, “I love it down here in Victoria, the waves are long and generally well suited to my style. I’ve surfed Torquay Point quite a few times and generally enjoy it, although I’d prefer Bells!” Of the showdown looming for the final event Constable nervously said “It’s so close between myself, Harley and Jackson and with a car like that up for grabs it’s going to be an amazing finish to the series! I’m going to try and not think about it too much and just keep surfing and well prepared for that final event – I don’t know – it’s a bit nerving!”
