SOUL Australian Longboard Titles

Port Macquarie, Mid north coast, NSW

Event period: Monday 22 – Sunday 28 October, 2007

174 competitors across 11 divisions

 

Australia’s best Longboard surfers are descending upon the surfing and longboarding Mecca of Port Macquarie for the annual SOUL Australian Longboarding Titles which are set to begin next Monday October 22nd and run through to Sunday October 28th.

 

The SOUL Australian Longboard Titles is the premier longboarding event in Australia and the winners of all divisions will be crowned the 2007 Australian Champions!

Divisions to be contested include: under 18 boys & girls, open men & women, over 35 men & women, over 40 men, over 45 men, over 50 men, over 55 men and over 60 men.

 

Obviously the Open Men’s and Women’s are the blue divisions and the fields lining up include numerous internationally acclaimed surfers along with a vast number of very talented national surfers and some emerging potentials stars of the sport.

 

Josh Constable (Noosa) heads the Open Men’s division and he’ll be going for yet another Australian Title to add to his already big collection of titles which includes ASP 2006 World Professional Longboarding Champion.

 

With and array of surfers like Harley Ingelby (Coff’s Harbour), Grant Thomas (Maroochydore) and the emerging young talent of Bryce Young (Angourie) in the field, whoever wins this division will have well deserved the prestigious title of Australian Champion for 2007.

 

Chelsea Williams (Tweed Heads) leads the Open Women’s division. Chelsea has been dominant on the Women’s Australian longboarding scene over the past few years and she’s also stood tall on the international stage with numerous excellent results and goes into this event as the surfer to beat to claim the title.

 

The prime location is Town Beach, Port Macquarie however the event is mobile with the ability to utilize 5 different locations between Port Macquarie and North Haven that will enable competition to be held in the best conditions possible.

Daily prizes to be awarded:

SOUL Wave of the Day – highest wave score of the day will receive a daily prize from SOUL

Tooheys Extra Dry Heat of the Day – highest combined heat score each day will receive a carton of TED

 

Event is expected to kick off around 7:30am each day
